About the Institute

The ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel (NRCC) was established on 5th July 1984 under the aegis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, to conduct research on camels. It is located at Bikaner, Rajasthan, the camel heartland of India.

NRCC is the only research institution of its kind in the world dedicated exclusively to camel research. The centre works on all aspects of camel production including breeding, nutrition, health management, milk processing, and value addition.

Mandate

To conduct basic and applied research on all aspects of camel production, health, and product utilization. To act as a repository of scientific information on camels. To provide consultancy and training services to stakeholders.
